New friend, Petra.

So, this is the first time of me to be here. After get a holiday, I'm took care of my course to move to Bandar Lampung. So, now I'm beeing the part of 402 class on LIA Gedung Meneng, Bandar Lampung. And on the first day, I got a new friends. Elgi, Erika and Magda. But suprisingly, we got a guest today.

Her name is Petra and she is came from Slovak. Yeah, that country is still a part of europe. Her name sound like boys, right? She’s knew it already. Petra told us that Slovak is pretty far, it is in the center of Hungaria, Checko Republic, Austria, German and two different countries that I forgot, maybe I should to check on google map. Imagine it, how exciting her village? She said that from her hometown to Wina, Austria, is just like seventy kilometers. So you can travell trough seven different country with no time. I wish I can go to her village someday.

She is not a member of AISEC but she’s join one of AISEC’s project so she could be here now. Her project with AISEC is to come to small and/or medium company to give them more knowledge about bussiness, to analyze prolem inside that company and try to fix it, to do presentation in front of staff on that company and last give their ideas to help them to improve the company’s level.

Petra was finished her bachelor degree on business, but what make me shocked is the fact that people in Slovak can take more than one major in the university. Like Petra, she took four different languages, bussiness and what else-I can’t remember well, when she’s in university. Even she can move around to England for one semester to study. She said that she was also worked in Italy for two years. How lucky you, Petra. I wish I could to go travel around the world and get a new experiences as much as I could to.

From her hometown, she went to Wina and got fly to Jakarta, before to Bandar Lampung. From Wina, her plan transitted in-damn I forgot!, then to Abu Dhabi then Jakarta and finished in Bandar Lampung. She got jet lag, of course. She stayed in family house not like her friends who stayed in hotel, she told that on the first day she's here, the family where she stay asked her to get lunch together. But she felt so sleepy, she can’t open her eyes because in the time for lunch here is same with 7 o’clock in the morning there. But now she can handle it, cause she's been here for more than a month.

Her first impression about Bandar Lampung is a little bit funny. She said, “I can’t imagine a city with no tall buildings, and the building is there without block like in my hometown. Also the traffic, I don’t know how could the people ride the motorcycle like that”, even she’s made a gesture to give an example how the people ride the motorcycle. I laugh. She must be frustating about the traffic, in Slovak there’s just like 5,5 million people in one country and in Bandar Lampung is maybe over than 6 million people in one town.

She said, her country can get stabble number of citizens because of people there concern to education, carrier and others rather than make a new family. So there’s unusual to find a person get married when they’re just 20s. People there usually marry in 25 until 30. But it depend on the people, she knew that some of people in Slovak married when 19, but just one in a hundred maybe.

And what make me envy most with her is when she said that in Slovak children just get in elementary school for four until nine years before go to high school then university. So people there can graduate earlier, they can get a bachelor title younger than us here. It's totally different from us here, right? We go trough kinder garden, elementary school, junior high school, senior hight school the university.

But he weird one for me about Slovakian is that they don’t have a specific dream. When I asked Petra about her big dream, her answer is to make her parent happy, get a job with a good position and salary, travelling around the world and life happily. I expected her answer would be like I wanna be a doctor, I wanna be a journalist or what, like the most teenager in Indonesia.

She said, indonesia cuisine is pretty good. She like fried bananas that she can’t find in another country. She also got a taste of noodle and bakso, and like another foreigner, she said fried rice is delicious. But she’s a little bit confused with the habit of indonesian to eat rice in the morning when usually she get a bread with yogurt or milk for breakfast. And she said its also weird to see indonesian blend avocado with chocolate on juice, cause people in Slovak usually blend avocado with yogurt and cheese on salad.

Last, she have been in love with indonesian culture, where the people so freindly and nice.  And she though is wonderful that Indonesia has so many tradition from each place. And the only one Slovakian tradition that she told and though pretty interesting is easter. On that day, the boy come out and knocking the door from every house. Then when the girl open the door, they splash the water to the girl and also hit the girl with a wooden stick. After do that, the boy get a money, chocolate or some of alchohol from the girl. She said, every boy in Slovak never skip this celebration.

Unfortunately, the time to share with Petra was over. Last, Petra gave a motivation for us. She said that learn about english or another language is come from your inside, if your heart don’t want to learn it, it will be difficult for you. And also you should to brave to speak, no matter if you did a mistake, at least you brave to speak up. Then, movies, songs, books and others can help you to increase your language skill.

I’m so sorry cause I can’t give you a picture of Petra. But the thing you should to know for sure is that she’s so beautiful. Her skin is white with blond hair. She’s tall and her eyes is light grey. Her smile is so kindly, she’s friendly and talkactive. If you meet her directly, you must like her like what I’m feeling.

So, this is the story of me for today. Hope for another experiences on the next day!
Ppsstt, I’m still learning english, so I;m so sorry for you all if I did so many mistakes. Hope you still get what I mean.
